2015 was a trying year for anyone remotely interested in the Pokemon franchise, due to this being the first year in many where a main title hadn’t been revealed, or even teased. Everyone assumed a ‘Pokemon Z’ iteration would come a year after X and Y but, alas, Game Freak released Tempo the Badass Elephant instead. While it is good, it’s definitely no Pokemon.
Regardless, 2016 is the 20th anniversary of the legendary game franchise and, to celebrate, they are releasing multiple games throughout the year, starting with Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow on the 3DS as Virtual Console games. To commemorate the games that started the franchise, Nintendo announced on Wednesday that there would be a Nintendo Direct, which is a pre-recorded video that goes up a designated time to both show off up-and-coming games, as well as announce the new ones. Whilst this is not out of the ordinary for Nintendo, a recent leak has made this all the more exciting…
The trademarks and logos for both Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon have appeared on multiple websites, first noted by Neogaf and, considering the timing of this leak, it all seems just that bit too clear what we should expect for tomorrow.
Whilst we know nothing else about the title, we can only assume that it will be released for the Nintendo 3DS, feature a whole new generation of critters to befriend/enslave, and that it will be out in the latter quarter of this year.
What are you expecting to see in tomorrow’s announcement? Was this a shock to anyone? Let us know below!
